Insurance and Billing

Our clinic strives to ensure that those who need a prosthetic eye have options.

We accept all major credit cards, payment plans through Cherry, and Care Credit.
Please review insurance information below and contact us with any questions. 

Insurance 

Artificial Eyes are typically covered by insurance as a medical necessity to support the continued health of your eye socket. All patients using insurance will need to have a referral prescription from their doctor.

Prosthetic eye services fall under Durable Medical Equipment (DME) within your medical coverage, not your vision plan. 

​

Most plans have guidelines regarding replacements and benefits vary. 

We are here to support and assist, but it is the patient's interest and responsibility to ensure that the referrals and prior authorization are confirmed prior to the appointment.

Private Insurance

We are insurance friendly and are in network with many plans from BCBS, Wellmark, Aetna, and more. Please inquire with your insurance if we are in network with your coverage.

 

If we are out of network, you are likely to qualify for authorization or geographical GAP exceptions due to limited ocularists across the country.

The approval will need to be confirmed in advance of your appointment. Otherwise payment is due at the time of service. We will provide you information to include with your claim reimbursement request. 

We are out of network with United Healthcare (UHC) and UMR.

Medicare

We are a non-participating provider for Medicare and provide courtesy billing.

Payment is due at the time of service and we will submit the claim for you to be reimbursed, unless otherwise arranged in advance.

Medicare will pay 80% of the current allowable. If you have supplemental coverage, they typically cover the remaining 20%.

Medicare Advantage Plans

Similar to standard Medicare patients, we collect payment at the time of service and courtesy bill for you.

Out of network authorization is usually required prior to the appointment is required to ensure that the claim is approved. If you need assistance, please contact us. 

Medicaid

We accept Medicaid claims as assigned (we bill them directly). Prior authorization is often required.

Self Pay Patients

We accept all major credit cards.

For check or cash, we provide a self pay discount.

We also accept Care Credit and Cherry.

Cherry Payment Plans

A new offering to Torrison Eye Care, we like Cherry because of the flexible payment plan options without hard credit check and it doesn't involve opening a credit card.

We partner with Cherry because they can support many of our patients easily, such as:

  • self paying patients

  • patients paying at the time of service, then waiting for insurance reimbursement

  • those with high deductible plans

  • patients with a large remaining balance after insurance payment
